Meaning "to treasure whales" the non-government organization comprises volunteers that help in the annual collection of photo ID, genetic sampling, acoustics, and sending this data off for analysis by expert scientists.

EDUCATION

A primary goal of Oma Tafua is to educate the Niuean people and regional organisations of findings from research as with events happening in the Pacific and the World that affect important marine life and ultimately marine mammals.

VOLUNTEERS

Oma Tafua is indebted to the help of its volunteers over the past years since starting its first pilot research in 2008 and to the generosity of the Niuean people in Niue and abroad, and the volunteer vessels that have given up their time and efforts to assisting in the research efforts.
